Stool becomes Plant Stand
Stool Becomes Plant Stand
I found a stool that someone threw out. Of course I had to pick it up. It sat in my garage for quiet some time before we moved and I was close to getting rid of it, but choose to put it in the new garage.
So the other day, as I was cleaning in the garage, I found the stool and thought I could finally fix it and make a plant stand out of it.
Surprisingly, the stool was really solid. The problem was that two of the rungs were missing at the bottom. We had these spindles that might work, only they were made from treated lumber. I didn't get a picture before we added the new rungs.
The new ones are the one in front and the one to the left. The old rungs were inset into the sides but I decided to just use screws and inset the screws into the side of the wood.
It worked for me. I began to sand the stand. The wood was really nice.
I started to stain the piece but the stain I had was not dark enough for the two new pieces. So I had to add some dark stain to the lighter one to make it all the same. A little trail and error was happening.
Now it was hard to see which rungs were the new ones. I was happy.
I varnished it all and added extra coats of varnish to the top. Now all I had to do was add plants. It is such a sturdy plant stand. What do you think?
