White Wreath for Vintage Ladder

White Wreath for Vintage Ladder

Normally, when the holidays come, I see so many posts showing lovely pom pom wreaths. I always want to make one, but it seems that the holidays come and go and I don't get one made. So, I decided to make one early. (It is Christmas in July after all, right)

I have a vintage ladder in the spare bedroom and thought a wreath would look nice on it. So I decided to make a white one. Partly because it would go with the quilts on the ladder and partly because I had white yarn.

I love old quilts and love to collect them. I have a few that my grandmother made but the rest I have picked up here and there. I have had this ladder for a long time and finally decide to put it in this bedroom with some quilts on it. I thought it needed something else and so a wreath came to mind. I had white yarn so made a white pom pom wreath and then hung it on my ladder.

Although I liked it, the all white wreath seemed blah! Maybe I should have made it more random or used another color. How could I fix this? I had no other pom pom yarn that would work so I looked in my finer yarn basket. I use these ones for crocheting doilies. I picked out a beige one and then mixed the two yarns together to make new pom poms.

These new pom poms have just enough color in them to dress up the white wreath. I added a few here and there and I was happy. What do you think? Do you like the plain white wreath or the addition of a the beige pom poms?

Home Sweet Home Sign

I was trying to clean up some wood in my barn. I have lots of pieces and this piece of thin plywood was not particularly in good shape. I was ready to toss it when I thought of an idea - a sign.

Bottle Garland

A couple of months ago,  I saw three little bottles wrapped in wire to make a garland on Antique Farm House. Sorry I don't have a picture of the original one, but I liked it and wanted to recreate one for my deck. I think it was around $15.

Heart Vase Holder

Memorial weekend is ready to begin and we are trying to get the deck ready for company and cookouts. Why is it that we always seem to finally finish those projects that we have been putting off until right before we are supposed to have company? I don't know about you, but I seem to do that a lot. It gives me that extra push I needed.

As we started to prepare for cleaning the deck, as usual, I wanted to add some additional decor and this heart vase holder was one of them.

Guest Post: Going Retro

Today, I am delighted to have Eva Stephen from Home Interior Design as a guest host writer.  She is a writer, blogger, DIYer, design enthusiast, choosy about colors, nature admirer, social media addict, chocolate fan, and mango lover. I hope you enjoy her post!

Going Retro!
In home décor retro is the new 'now.' Even if your home has all the mod cons, latest gadgetry and shiny new furniture you can add a touch of vintage warmth to any room. You have great freedom of choice in your particular decade of retro, with everything from the 1920s to the 1980s making a comeback in interior design and on the catwalk alike. You can choose to remodel the entire room, or just add touches of retro glamour here and there to hint at homage to days gone by.
