Gardens of Flowers on TFT
Gardens of Flowers on TFT
Happy Thursday dear friends. I can't believe that June is almost over. This month seemed to fly by. Although the weather has been warm, we have had rain. The flowers are certainly enjoying the rain.
Everything is looking pretty and the grass is green. I hope you are enjoying your summer.
I thought some lovely flower ideas would be wonderful to look at. Enjoy them!
Just wanted to let you know that they got my port working and all went well. Thanks for all of the kind words.

Decorating with Flowers on Thursday Favorite Things
Welcome to Thursday Favorite Things Party
Happy Thursday friends. It has been a little crazy here. My Louie, our dachshund, is not feeling well and has spent yesterday at the vets and another day today. They have been giving him IVs and meds. We are hoping that by Thursday evening he will be on his way to recovery. I pray.
It is so hard when they are in pain and you can't help them.
I also want to apologize for not returning comments.
Have a wonderful Memorial Weekend!

Garland of Flowers
Garland of Flowers
With summer arriving in a few weeks, I thought I would decorate with flowers, but not the real kind. Instead, I created some fabric flowers that I saw on Pinterest.
First I had to make a pattern. I played with it a few times before I liked one. They were easy to do and a great way to use up scrap fabric.
I got a little carried away making them so I also added them to the fireplace as well. I still have some stars and stripes items on the mantel. 4th of July is coming so I left them up after Memorial Day.
Here is what you will need:
scrap fabric
scissors
pattern (download it here)
buttons
poly-fil
Pinking shears)optional)
Directions:
1. Download the pattern here. Cut it out and then place it on two pieces of fabric.
2. Cut out the flower. You can use pinking shears now or after you have sewn your flower together. I have done both ways, although I prefer to do it after I have stitched around the edges.
3. This next step can be done by hand or using a sewing machine. Stitch around the edges of the flower but make sure to leave an opening to stuff in the poly-fil. I leave one petal open for stuffing.
4. When stuffing the flower, make sure to add stuffing to one petal at a time. I like to use a wooden chop stick, small scissors, or what ever you have to push the stuffing into the petals. I like to make mine fairly tight but still be able to add a button in the center. I usually sew up the last petal by hand. I do a section and then stuff more if need be and continue to sew it up.
5. I used vintage buttons on mine, but use what ever you have. I made a few without buttons, so do what you like. I sew the button on going through to the back of the flower. You could put a button on both sides if you wanted.
And there you have it. I used small clothes pins from the dollar store to hang them up.
Any questions, please feel free to ask.

A Little Bit of Springtime
A Little Bit of Springtime
Today I was cleaning up some branches after a harsh rain storm in the morning. The sun was out and it was lovely. I have two Bougainvillea bushes in pots. They belong to the four o' clock family. I love the plant but not a big fan since it has these killer thorns. I keep them in pots so they don't go crazy. I thought I would bring in a couple of stems for the table.

A Very Interesting Rose
A Very Interesting Rose
I have been growing roses here in Florida ever since I moved here fifteen years ago. The roses have been one of my favorite plants to grow since they have performed so well. When we moved to central Florida last year, I purchased 2 rose bushes to take with me. One is called Neal Diamond and it has these beautiful pinkish rose color roses. See a picture of it below.

Vermont Summer Flowers
Lovely Vermont Summer Flowers
The one thing that I miss the most of summers in Vermont is the lovely summer flowers. We just don't have them in Florida. Here are some flower beds from my friend Joan.
These logs are cedar logs that have been hallowed out.

Dressing Up Grandma's Cutting Board
When the dogs were little, I taught them to ring a bell, tied to the door handle, when they had to go to the bathroom. Well, that bell was ringing off the handle. Every time I would lie down on the sofa, the bell would ring. After a few days, the bell came down.
I did manage to work on this cutting board that was my grandma-in-law's.

Got Seed?
This one is just a little whimsical. Wonder if the birds think so?
