Updated Rocking Chairs
Updated Rocking Chairs
When we purchased our new home, they left two rocking chairs on the front porch. The chairs were sturdy so we kept them. However, they did not go with the new paint color of the house. We painted it a dark grey so beige rockers were not cutting it for me. I wondered if I could paint them.
So I headed to Walmart for some spray paint. I thought of white, since our trim is white, but I was afraid that it would take too many coats. I decided on black.
I bought this Rust-Oleum paint since it said it "bonds to plastic". One coat. I was so impressed. It was an immediate transformation. I must admit that I cleaned them off but did not scrub them down. Silly girl. You know sometimes we get too excited.
I must admit that I have spray painted many items, but these chairs turned out better than anything I have ever done.
They turned out great and look better on the porch with our grey house. I am still working on the front porch. I added the salvaged red plant stand that I posted about earlier on the right side.
I need to decorate my other red plant stand and update the wreaths. I want to paint the front doors but it is too hot now so I will wait until it is cooler since I will have to have the door open while it dries. It's coming a little at a time. Maybe some new pillows too. Always lots to do.

Wow! Really? Only one coat? I used spray paint to paint 2 beige plastic outdoor chairs white a couple of months ago. The chairs look better than before but are very streaky. I am pinning this so I can get the right paint and try again! Thanks for sharing this!!
ReplyDeleteI have spray painted lots of stuff and these really impressed me. I was amazed. I used 1 1/2 cans for both chairs and they are not small. I have never used this paint on plastic before, but it will be my go to paint for now on. They were so smooth and didn't look like they had been painted.
DeleteLove it. Hope yours turn out great as well.
Hugs,
Bev
Wow looks awesome. Pinned
ReplyDeleteAnita,
DeleteThanks, I was really pleased how they turned out. I like it when I don't have to spend too much money to make a piece look great.
Have a lovely week.
Hugs,
Bev
Looks lovely, Bev! I'm liking a touch a black on a front porch more and more these days! So happy to see you at Tuesday Turn About!
ReplyDeleteJulie,
DeleteI agree that black is really nice on the porch. I am also liking it in other areas of my home. I hope to be back to the party this week, but we are traveling on Tuesday, so I will see.
Have a great week.
Hugs,
Bev
