Salvaged Plant Stand
My brother-in-law is always on the look out for things for me. My sister-in-law said that if we were married, our house could not hold all of things that we would collect. She is probably right. Although he lives in Georgia,(he gave me the peaches) he will call me from a garage sale or send a pic of something to see if I want it. He is the best, so when we were there a few weeks ago, he took me to a house (a friend of his) where he dug up a hydrangea for me. I am still nursing it. I hope it survives.While we were there, he asked if there was anything I wanted. The people had moved out and left some things. One of the things I got was this plant stand.
It was nothing special but I thought I could use it. Our car was so loaded down. My husband just rolled his eyes as usual. Typically, we take my suburban, but I said all we were getting were peaches, so no need. I was wrong!
It is all metal and has these cut outs on the side.
The top had this pressed board that had gotten wet and had warped and was coming apart. It had small screws holding it originally, but not any more.
I found some pallet boards that I could put in there but they need to be cut down. That was easy for me to do, but I had a little problem. I still needed a small "slice" to finish off the top.
I waited for hubby to come up and he cut a piece for me.
He made it so snug the boards are not coming out and I didn't need to put any screws into the bottom to hold the boards.
I placed it on the front porch buy the rocker. I did not paint it since I liked the original color. I will tell you about those rockers in my next post. I am still working on decorating the front porch. I placed my pathos plant on it because it was starting to get long.
Do you know that pathos grow on the ground here in Florida. I have some that I keep ripping out because they try and climb my tree. You have to keep them in pots or they become invasive. This picture is a tree down the road from me. See how big the pathos have gotten near the top of the tree?
These are the best kind of projects - totally free. Plus, if you don't like them down the road, no problem because it was free.

Beverly, I have almost the exact same plant stand that I bought at a garage sale. It's mustard yellow (uck) and still sitting in our garage, waiting to be painted. Did you mean pothos is growing up your tree?

DeleteThat's funny that you have the same one. I thought of painting mine but like it as is. Yes, that is pathos growing up a tree. It is not in my yard however. I have some that try, but I rip them out. They are so evasive if left alone, especially up trees and the leaves get huge.
