Doily Dresser Scarf
I have seen this done with doilies stitched together by themselves, but I wanted to put a based with mine. So I started with a piece of a lace curtain. I cut it the size of the top of my nightstand.
Here is the backside of the topper. Once I had the base cut, I began to place doilies on the lace.
I didn't fill in all areas. I did add various pieces of lace on top of the doilies. Once I liked the layout, I began to stitch the pieces down. I just stitched them on.
Although I liked the look, I wanted more, so I added lace pieces down the sides of the top.
I pinned all the pieces of lace to the top and then stitched them on my sewing machine. Still not enough, I add a piece of lace over these to make it look more finished.
I love how it turned out and it looks great on the night stand.
This project was a great way to use up some of those doilies I collect and all of the lace pieces I have in my stash.

How to Frame and Preserve a Family Treasure
I especially love doilies. I have made so many over the years, but don't have many to show for it since I have given them as gifts to others. That is probably why I keep bringing them home when I find them.
