Fall Candle Holder from a Lamp Base

Fall Candle Holder  from a Lamp Base

A few months back, I pulled a wicker lamp out of the neighbors junk pile. The cord had been cut off but the rest of the parts where there. I keep lamp parts so I took it apart. The lamp shade was "toast" and I really didn't want it.

The base of the lamp was wicker and in good shape, but I didn't like the color (sort of dirty blond).  Sorry, I don't have a picture of the original lamp base. I didn't think I would be using the base. I put it aside for awhile.

Then one day I found the wicker base and had an idea.  I found some brown spray paint. I got so excited that I forgot to take a before picture. While the paint was drying, I headed to A. C. Moore for a couple of items.
Eclectic Red Barn: Wicker vase supplies needed

You could always wrap jute or rope around a vase for a similar look if you wanted to actually have it hold real flowers. I was going to use it to hold a candle since mine was hallow.

I purchased the berries and the silk mum for $1 each. I had the ribbon, moss, and the candle.

I found a piece of Styrofoam and placed it in the top to support the candle(battery type). I had to cut it down a little so that it fit tight. You could also add a plate on top to place a real candle.

I wanted to decorate the vase for fall, but make it so I could change it for other holidays. After trimming the stems off the berries and the mum, I wrapped ribbon around the vase to hold the berries and the mum in place.

Although they were secure, I could easily change them out.

Next I added some ribbon. This was left over from some project.

I placed the candle on top (battery operated) and surrounded it with moss.

I only spent two dollars to get my new fall candle vase. Not bad!

You will probably see it again in another fall post, as I continue working on my fall decor projects.
