DIY Hair Mask - You Have to Try
Today I want to share with you my hair mask. Not only do we want our skin to look beautiful, but we also want our hair to look lovely. Just like your skin, age takes its toll on your hair too… often leading to a dry, dull, or brittle look and feel.
I have only been using this for about 6 weeks, but I love it. My hair has never felt so soft and silky.
The first time I made it, I mashed the bananas and avocados with a fork and mixed in the other ingredients. Problem was when it came time to rinse it off, bits of banana reminded in my hair. So trust me when I say, use a blender.
DIY Hair Mask
Ingredients:
- 1 avocado (Vitamin E and protein to keep your hair strong, soft and hydrated)
- 2 Tablespoons honey (antimicrobial and antibacterial)
- 1 egg (promotes healthy hair growth and strength)
- ½ ripe banana (for scalp health, reduces flakes and to reduce frizz)
- 2 Tablespoons coconut oil (helps hydrate brittle hair) can use olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar (softens hair and reduces oily scalp)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mash the banana and avocado with a fork until smooth (you can also do this in a food processor or blender).
- Add all the other ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Apply to dry hair, working it in with your fingers. You can also use a thick-toothed comb to really make sure it works through ALL of your hair.
- Cover your hair with a shower cap (optional, but highly recommended…you don’t want to get this mask on any clothing or upholstery) and let sit for 20 – 30 minutes.
- Rinse your hair, then wash, condition and style as normal.
I suggest using this mask every other week.
You will be amazed at how wonderful your hair feels. The first time I did this, I kept running my hands through my hair, it felt so good. Let me know if you try it.

I looks tasty and good for you so I am sure it is also good for hair. I should give this a try. I find that winter is hard on my hair.
ReplyDeleteBarbara,
DeleteIt does look tasty but put it on your hair. You will be amazed. I have natural curly hair and it can get frizzy and dry here in Florida. This mask has really helped.
Let me know if you try it.
Hugs,
Bev
