Happy Monday. This is Christmas Week and I am so enjoying the time to really think about the true meaning of Christmas. It has been difficult since my sister assed away a few months ago. I have been thinking about her so much and really missing her. I was thinking about how she is having Christmas with Jesus this year and not us. I know she is the lucky one, but I still miss her.
It is always a difficult time when celebrating Christmas and our loved ones are not with us. If you are dealing with this too, I feel your hurt. Just know that one day we will all be together.

Thursday Favorite Things Party

Happy Thursday! For some reason, I was thinking that I am doing so well getting ready for Christmas early. I finished my baking today and made out my list for major meals next week including Christmas Day. I was feeling really proud of myself and then it hit me - Christmas is next Saturday.
Yikes, it seems like it is coming too soon. I know I am pretty ready but I guess I wanted some more time to enjoying the season. I love this time of year and try to enjoy each day and the reason for the season. I hope you are enjoying this season as well.

Christmas preparations are in full swing and I hope that in all of the busyness you are able to enjoy the beauty of this season. Spending time with those we love and the joy of giving is at the top of my list! Many you are still decorating, if so, you might find some inspiration in this week's features. Or maybe you are baking cookies, like me. The kitchen smells great. So grab a steaming cup of hot chocolate brimming with marshmallows or a cup of tea and relax by the light of your Christmas tree and enjoy the party.

When I was in Pittsburgh in November, my friend that has a store gave me a wooden tree. I didn't do anything with it until last week. I went to my stash of rusty metal things and pulled my bag of Scrabble letters out and the wooden tree became this.
I started off with the scrabble letters. I didn't want to glue them on so I used glue dots. They will keep them on but I can take them off if I want to. The blue chips are from bingo numbers, they are for the free spots.
I added an old rusty hinge and a door knob plate.
For the star, I had a 4th of July one and just sprayed painted it. I used a hammered brown paint.
It is a great addition on my lanai.
