Upcycled Shoe Shine Box
Upcycled Shoe Shine Box
I have had this shoe shine box for over a year that I got at a garage sale (before covid) and just the other day, decided to update it for something usable. It's not like I shine my shoes these days. lol!
I needed something to store my seed packets in and this would be perfect.
It didn't start out this way. It wasn't in bad shape but the inside was rather gross.
First I removed the part where you placed your foot. I had to patch the holes. Then I sanded the piece.
The tricky part was getting the sticky stuff out from the inside. Once that was done I removed the hinges and the clasp from the front.
Next I painted the entire piece, inside and out with some white paint I had on hand. I had to give it two coats.
While the paint was drying, I tried to clean the hinges and clasp, but they still did not look good so I spray painted them with a brown hammered paint.
I found a seed image online and printed it out to place on the top. I used modge podge to secure it to the top.
Now it was time to put it back together. I put the hinges back on.
And then the clasp in the front.
My seed packets went in next but these are not all of them because I was planting with some of them. The box is big for the seeds I have, but I am excited to have them in one place.
It organized my seeds and finished a project that was long over do.

You're The Star - Home Feature Week
Welcome to You're The Star - Home Feature Week
Happy Monday. so delighted to see you here. I hope you had an awesome weekend. I know it has been very cold up north and many places have had snow, so if you are there, stay warm and be safe.
I planted some blueberry bushes on Saturday and put some butternut squash seeds in pots. Our planting season has started, which is crazy with the wintery weather up north. Funny how there are the different seasons and weather conditions between the north and the south. My azaleas even started to bloom which is early for them, but we have had some warm temps lately and they got confused.
I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
WELCOME to the February 2021 "You're the Star" Blog Hop!

Over The Moon Linky Party
Welcome to Over The Moon Linky Party
Happy Sunday. Can you believe that only one more week and February will be over? This year is off to a flying start. Lol!
We worked on the garage some more today. I did a couple of projects or I should say "putzed" with a couple of projects. I have a small side table that I was trying to fix. The top just doesn't seem to look good no matter what I do. I have sanded and sanded but it still looks like there are groves all over it. Maybe next I will paint the top.
Then I had these two spindle candle holders. Problem was they were crooked. So I thought I would take them apart and cut them so they would be smooth. That was not as easy as it sounds. It was hard to line them up since they were not flat. I think I finally got them OK. Next I am going to paint them.
My final project was to clean a Bissel Little Green machine. A friend of hubby's gave it to him and I don't use it so, I thought I would clean it all up and sell it. I must admit that I get carried away when I sell something. It has to be close to perfect. So I took it all apart. Now it looks like new. It really is since we never used it and he used it a couple of times.
Well, that was my day. Hope you had a great day too. I hope you have a great week ahead and I will be checking out your posts.
