School Features on HIH
School Features on HIH
Most of the South has already headed back to school, but some of our Northern friends haven't quite gotten there yet, according to friends of mine. Most of them will head back in the next 2 weeks or so, so I thought I would share one final week of back-to-school ideas. I planned to share end of summer ideas, like decor and such, but I didn't have enough to do a theme. Apparently, I need my features as themed as my decor, ha-ha! So, let's take a look at the awesome back-to-school features, and pray that our friends who still have kiddos at home ALL day can hang on for a few more days or weeks.
Another school year means another round of fall and spring school pictures. Morgan at Charleston Crafted shared how to hang a staircase gallery wall where you can display all of those years of pictures and see your little one growing right before your eyes every day!
Beth over at Creatively Beth shared an adorable idea for a back-to-school teacher gift idea. My mother and grandmother were teachers, and the items that Beth included are things that teachers will be so thankful for because teachers have to spend their own money throughout the year for supplies!
Last week I shared an idea for laminating & reusing a printable for back-to-school pictures to have K-12 cohesive photos, but this week Tonya of 24 Hour Family shared these cute printables for photos, one for each year of school. Now you have cute pictures to put in that senior year photo slideshow (I know, we don't want to think about that day coming too soon!!).
If you want to have breakfast ready to go easily as soon as you get up in the morning or if your kiddo loves breakfast, even for lunch, these breakfast Bento Box ideas from Kelli at 3 Boys & a Dog. There are more than 25 ideas, so your child won't get food weariness like my hubby and I have from eating tacos my son loves EVERY 2 nights! These breakfast ideas travel well, so if you have to eat on the road, you're good to go.
Darcy and Brian has a tutorial for adorable coffee filter sunflowers that is great for little ones. Teachers can use this for pre-school through first grade or so as they discuss lessons on flowers, seeds, or seasons or even just for a fun craft time activity. This is also great for moms to do with little ones left behind while their older siblings go to school.
ON TO THE PARTY!

St Patrick's Day Ideas on HIH
St Patrick's Day Ideas on HIH
Happy Sunday! I hope your weekend is so far. My daughter and I went to a Vintage fashion show on Saturday. This lady had an exquisite collection of dresses from the 1920s to the 1960s. They were amazing. They had lovely trays of tea sandwiches and desserts. They also had baskets for the silent auction. My daughter won a lovely one all about lemons.
If you missed last week's party, you can check it out here. As always, y'all make it difficult to choose only five happily homemade items! Keep 'em coming because I love looking at what you share each week. Let's check out this week's features!

Favorite Features
First I'd like to share this week's features! Thank you to all of you bloggers who share all the wonderful posts we get to read each week!
Janet from A Life of Balance shared a tutorial for this simple patriotic wreath. It seems very easy and quick to put together. She used her Cricut to cut the stars from balsa wood. I haven't tried that yet, but I can't wait to! This wreath is perfect way to greet your guests as you kick off the summer with your patriotic barbeque!
Next Joy from Artful Homemaking brings us a post on deep cleaning your home. She has some great tips and ideas. In her post, Joy shares free printable checklists for when you get down and dirty in your house!
Claire from Pillar Box Blue shared this post on all of the things you can make with old blue jeans. These ideas look like so much fun. In the article, she tells us exactly how to deconstruct jeans depending on what projects you'd like to make. Some of these are perfect projects to keep your teens busy this summer. They may even be able to sell a few!
This wood tray was shared with us from Tiffany at Tee Diddly Dee. Can you believe this beautiful tray is a DIY?! I thought it was going to be an upcycle (love those too!) or a vignette tutorial, but she hand made this. In the post she shares how to make it, step by step. Since you make it yourself, you can customize it for your home. You could change the size, color, or handles, yet use the same tutorial. I think it's beautiful and would fit perfectly into my house in a medium colored wood stain.
Finally we have Penny's she shed from Penny's Vintage Home. I am in love with the look of this trailer turned she-shed! It has turned out absolutely beautiful. Mr. H cut an old headboard in half, which is what you see on either side of the jut-out. Who would've thought it would look so cute. She repainted the jut-out in light grey with the pink door, and that makes the shed. I love those two colors together. The sunflower theme that runs across the shed is just perfect. If there's A/C, I could just move in!
Now it's time for the link party!

Favorite Features
Before we get to this week's party, I'd like to share our featured posts that were shared with us this past week. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. It is almost impossible to choose only five! Keep bringing the heat ladies (and gents)!
Beth from Whispers of the Heart shared a musical tablescape. She created this in memory of her loving mother who played the piano for 66 years before the Lord called her home! I have no idea where Beth comes up with these beautiful tablescapes, but you must check her out! This is stunning, and I love how the red pops on the black and white.
Next Candice at She's Crafty Crafty showed us how to make a decorative banner flag using an old drop cloth. She has been doing craft fairs and needed a better way to display her store name. Her framed sign kept knocking her in the head, so I see her need to come up with a new display, and quick! There are so many ways to customize this for your needs. It will look great hanging on a wall. She has inspired me to try one of my own, which I will try to share with you this week. Thank you Candice!
Our very own Linda from Labour of Life shared with us these delectable looking milkshakes. Oh my gosh girl! I am trying to lose a bit of weight for swimsuit season, but out that goes! She was looking for ways to bring summer into her life a little faster, and decided what she needed was a little "Summer Lovin' to have her a blast." I know you see what she did there Sandy and Danny fans. This is just what she needed to giver her a little summer blast. You must try her milkshake recipe.
Now we have these adorable boho triangle coasters that were shared by Julie from Julie's Creative Lifestyle. How great are these, lying next to a beautiful succulent? These would go perfect with some macramé hangings on the wall, a few hanging plants woven in macramé. The tassels bring it to another cuteness level! They are all the rage now, so I am definitely going to try to crochet a few myself. Julie was kind enough to share the crochet pattern with us. Thank you, you lovely lady!
I had to choose Debbee's bee wreath and skep, shared from Debbee's Buzz. In this post she gives us not one, not two, but three bee theme wreath instructions as well as bee themed party ideas- games, decor, & food. She has made this her annual "favorite things" party. Debbee pulled this together while participating in April's Pinterest Blog Hop Challenge, which encourages you to use those pins, not just pin them.

Fabulous Features
Before we get to this week's link party, I'd like to share our featured posts that were shared with us this past week. It is so hard to choose only five!
These wildflower bookmarks are adorable. Sarita from An Off Grid Life and her children made these by foraging for wildflowers in their area. How fun?! I think my son and I will be doing this over the summer. She used a laminating machine, but if you don't have access to one, they have laminating sheets available at your local craft stores and usually at Wal-Mart.
Next I chose these gorgeous floral cones from MaryJo at Master "Pieces" of My Life. In her post she shares with us cones for displaying flowers from three different materials. The one below is my favorite. It is made from burlap with a hexagon shapes and a bee design. She placed fresh flowers in this cone. It's beautiful and the perfect addition to any Mother's Day gift!
I love adding seasonal vignettes throughout my home. If you're new to creating your own, or if you are thinking about trying your hand at one, Carol from Blue Sky at Home has created a tutorial for you to follow. She shares a few tips about what you should have for the base of a vignette and how to create them without spending any money. I just love this patriotic vignette!
It's nearly summer, and three quarters of my family have summer birthdays. Which means themed birthday parties. Pryiam from Simple Joys threw a Mermaid themed party for her daughter. She created themed foods, games, and decorations. Ariel herself would be impressed. I love how her party turned out, so I'm sure any little girl would LOVE this party, dinglehoppers and all!
Last, but certainly not least, we have these blackberry and lime margaritas. How good do these look?! Libby from A Life Unfolding shared a recipe for creating these mouth watering margaritas, garnished with blackberries, limes, and lime popsicles. Be sure to head over to her site and pin this post for whipping up a few over the summer. I see myself pool side, sunglasses, hat, and refreshing margarita in hand!

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
Hello my bloggy friends. It is the last day in May. I remember talking to my Mom in April and she said I don't think I can go another month being isolated. Well, we did it. May is almost done and June is right around the corner. More and more places are open and it is easier to find groceries and TP, and other supplies. I find that people are wearing masks more than when it was at the height of the virus. Not sure why, but maybe because more masks are available. I still don't venture out much but my daughter and I did go and get some flowers and soil. We had a nice few hours together.
How are things in your area? Are you getting out more? Can you find what you need?
