Happy Thursday dear friends. We have had a strange week here in central Florida - it has been raining and the temps are cool. This weekend we can have frost. That doesn't sound like Florida weather. I will be out there covering my plants. 

I know it has been really cold up north. I talked to my son tonight and he said it was going to 20 below. Winter has certainly come in January. 

I hope your week has been good and that you are staying warm and safe.

Updated Spinet Flip-Top Desk

I just finished redoing this desk that my friend gave me. It was lovely as it was, but now it is beautiful.

This desk is petite and just perfect. As I said, it looked good but I wanted to clean it up and make her shine. I did some research and it looks like it might have been made in 1884 based on the number on the bottom. 

The center drawer slides out and there is a center drawer that also comes out.  On both sides is a little shelf and when removed, there is a cubby hole to hide stuff. 

Here is the top before I started to clean it. You can see that some white paint is on the tray on the left. I was able to remove that and some that was on the back.

Here is the top closed. It is in my dining room since it was cold out and I wanted to wax it. It is shining.

It really needed a good cleaning.  I hope you can see the difference in the legs once I had cleaned them.

The chair she had with it, did not come with it but it seemed to work. This was the fabric on the seat. I removed that and there was another layer where they used large tacks to secure it. I removed that layer and still another one where they used smaller tacks. Yikes! When I reached the bottom layer, it had horse hair in it.

I should have taken more pictures of all the layers. I was just going to cover the bottom seat but then found a nice piece of foam to use. Hubby thought it was too thick, but I said by the time I pull it around, it will work.

Since this desk was going to my sister, she wanted something grey since she has a grey bedspread. She liked this. The chair seat is petite too. I took it up to PA when I went.

She was so excited to have this desk. She was using a microwave stand for her bills. Now she can sit here and do them.

Side view of the desk. It is completed and in its new home. My sister calls and tells me she is sitting at her desk. she is happy and that's all that matters.

Happy Tuesday/Wednesday! I hope you are all doing well. This is the last party in January. Can you believe it? This month seems to be flying by. January is usually a cold month and here in Florida, that is the case. Cool today and rain. Yikes! Of course that is probably better than up north where it is very cold. I guess it is all relevant.

I have been stuck indoors today and the dogs have not been happy with that. They love being outside but they do not like the rain. I have been getting caught up in things around the house and laundry since I was away.  I plan on doing some Valentine crafts later.

Happy Monday and welcome to the last full week in January. This year is already off to a fast start. 
I made it home from my Mom's in Pennsylvania. Fortunately, I didn't run into any bad weather. However, it is very cool here in Florida, not like up north but definitely cool for us. I guess the country is in a cool phase.

A Tablescape

I have found my grove and my feature routine so lets start with a tablescape. And this weeks feature caught my eye probably because I have been thinking hearts and flowers.Actually it was the napkin fold that caught me. What a creative heart napkin. Today thebright red heart caught my eye, A Rose Valentines table. Inspiration for the gal who loves to celebrate love. Debbee's Buzz really nailed this one.

A Tasty Mocktail, that's pretty too

Trying something new this week, check out this yummy looking mocktail from Everyday Savvy. This mocktail recipe is simple, easy to follow, and has just a few ingredients. Simply Juice Mixed Berry is a great base for this mocktail recipe. Great for all ages and truth be told I am thinking it aso would make a great cocktail for me with a spalsh of rum or vodka.

Valentine's Cocoa Bombs

These easy Valentine’s Cocoa Bombs are a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The cocoa bombs melt in hot water or milk and will burst into a hot chocolate in seconds! Really fun to watch. Raquel from Organized Island really caught my eye with this version of a Hot Chcolate bomb, and quite possibly has inspired me t try my hand.

DIY Lip Gloss 

And along the crafty line how about this lip smacking lipgloss. Crazy thing it is made from Kool-aid and coconut oil, simple and easy. Plus perfect for a day of hearts to keep those lips smooth. The Socialite's Closet has a hit with this DIY.
