Butterflies and Flowers Garland
Butterflies and Flower Garland
I have this shelf in my family room and I like to make different things for various holidays. I added a string across the bottom to hang items. I will be getting ready for some Memorial Day items, but in the meantime, I made some butterflies and flowers to go on it.
I haven't finished the top yet, but the garland is done.
I made three butterflies and two flowers. I had this fun fabric that I used for two of he butterflies. it almost looked liked a quilt fabric, but wasn't. I got it at Hobby Lobby.
I used some vintage clothes pins for the centers. If you don't have any, you could just keep them plain. If you are interested in the pattern, email me and I will send it to you. eclecticredbaarn@gmail.com
I played around with it for awhile to get the size I wanted. I actually made the quilted one bigger than the other two. I used a blanket stitch around the edges, but you could stitch it if you want.
If you decide to use a clothes pin, make sure you have ones that have a large opening. The newer ones do not have a big enough opening to get the fabric into. You can see the difference in the ones below. The one on the left is my vintage one and the other one is newer.
For the flowers, I just made a pattern that had 5 loops around. I just used some scrap fabric to make these. I did use pinking sheers to cut them out and then used the blanket stitch.
So there you have me late spring garland of flowers and butterflies.

Your garland is so pretty! I will show this to my oldest granddaughter as she is learning how to sew and I think she's like this project to decorate her room We will have to drop to Hobby Lobby to see if they have that cute patchwork pattern fabric.
ReplyDeletePat,
DeleteOh, how sweet that she is learning to sew. These are easy to make. I just bought that fabric not too long ago, I hope they still have it.
let me know if she makes them. I would love to see them.
