Happy Thursday!  We came home from the funeral Wednesday night. It was so and heart wrenching. It was only for two days, I can't imagine it lasting any longer. 

My Mom took it so hard and we were and still are worried about her. We are planning on driving back to Florida on Friday if all goes well. I feel as though my head is going to explode and my heart has broken. 

Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers. I am sorry that I have not been able to return comments. Hopefully this week. Please know that I appreciate you all.

Happy Sunday! It is with a heavy heart that I write this. My sister had heart surgery last Thursday and was doing very well. However, on Thursday night , one week later, she passed away. it has been a shock to all of us. I came back up to Pittsburgh to be with my Mom and younger sister and then will be heading up to Rochester, NY on Tuesday. 

If I don't respond to comments, please know that I will probably read them.

Happy Thursday!  Well, here I am driving back to Florida. I had a great time with my Mom and sister. The weather was wonderful. My Mom decided that she didn't want to drive any more so we donated her car. It was bitter sweet. I know with me gone she will miss me but it was for the good.

I was able to get her annual physical done, flu shot and hair cut along with several other things. I think she will have to rest up after I leave because of all the places I dragged her to. 

I wish I lived closer to her. I wanted her to come to Florida for awhile, but she doesn't want to leave her apartment. She is a little stuck in her ways. That's OK, as long as she is happy.

I am enjoying my time in PA. The weather has been beautiful. My Mom's small town is having their Oktoberfest this weekend and it has been well attended. We have enjoyed watching and listening from her third floor balcony.

Happy Thursday!  Well, I am on my way to Pennsylvania. I know it is a long trip, but looking forward to seeing my Mom. She is so excited. it looks like the weather is going to be a lot cooler than it has been here in Florida. That will be a welcome treat. 

Washington county where she lives usually has a covered bridge festival the 3rd weekend in September and I am so excited that they are having it this year. Although it is too much for my Mom, my sister and I will go. We will have a great time I am sure. So if you don't hear from me for a few days, I will be busy.

Welcome! All is well here on the home front.  All of the painting is done on my in-laws place. so glad that is over. I am having a more quiet time this week. I am getting ready to drive up to Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday to see my Mom. I want to drive one more time before the time change. I have a hard time driving more that a few hours once it gets dark, so this will be my last trip driving. 

I have some things for my sister that I want to take and I made her some fall items as well. We love the same things so it is easy to know what to get her.

I just have a little more trim work to do on my in-laws place and I will be done. After 7 days of painting, I will be glad it is over.

Happy Thursday!  I hope your week is going well. Mine has been very busy painting. Not my house but my in-laws new home. We started painting last Saturday and are still at it. The living room, kitchen, spare bedroom and hallway are done. We still need a second coat on the master bedroom and then there are those accent walls in both bedrooms. Of course they are dark colors and I will start them today. I know they will take several coats. Then there will be both bathrooms. I am sick of painting!

They are coming to clean the carpets on Monday so I must be done by then. Wish me luck!

Vintage Metal Gym Locker 

Several years ago, my friend who has an antique shop found several of these vintage metal gym lockers for me. I had them under a console table but had not used them in the new house yet. 

We had our lanai (here in Florida a screened in porch is called a lanai) enclosed with windows and a sliding door to our outside porch and pool. It is giving me a chance to fix up that room with all of the things I have had put away. 

It is a work in progress so I will be showing you parts of it as I get it done. The first thing I did was grab my metal basket to add some items to it.

First I added some covered books. I grab some old books and wrapped them in drop cloth material. I didn't want to glue the fabric so I taped it on. That seemed to work, at least for me.

On the books I places a couple of vintage ginger beer bottles. I got these in Vermont several years ago. I actually bought 4 of them for 50 cents a piece. Great deal!

Other items that I included were a printed sack, a fall candle ring and some vintage bobbins. I was just going through things I found in my garage. 

I found so many items that could work but wanted to stay with fall colors.

I did have a white insulator that I added to the basket as well. 

This is one of the items that I did for my new enclosed porch. I will show you the piece it is sitting on coming up next.

Hello and welcome to the party. I hope you had a lovely Labor Day weekend, here in the U.S. Ours was nice, however as the name states -labor day - that's what we did. My inlaws are moving into a new place and I am painting their house. Needless to say, it is every room- living and dining room, kitchen, both bathrooms and both bedrooms. It was such a dark color so naturally, everything needs two cots. 

There are two accident walls in each bedroom that will probably need three coats. Not looking forward to that.

Happy Thursday!  Can you believe that it is September? We had some rain today, but not from Ida. Not even sure where it came from but it did cause temps to drop. Hubby was away for the day so I turned the air off and had the doors open. There was a nice breeze and it was so nice to not be closed up in the house. (Had to put air back on when hubby came home)

So for the first day of September, I was kind of thinking of fall. No where near fall temps but it got me in the mood. I hope all of you that are still dealing with Ida that you are safe and not getting too much rain. September is always the worst month for hurricanes and I hope it is not bad. Be safe and take care!
