Camping at Lake Okeechobee
Having backed the camper in, we are getting set up. That's my hubby waving, trying to get all our stuff out. It is amazing how much you need to bring for us and the dogs. Traveling with three dogs is like packing for babies - beds, leashes, food, treats, pen.
This KOA has two swimming pools, one for the kids and one for the adults. (no picture)
Here is the kids pool. They have live entertainment at both pools on the weekends. On the holidays, they serve hot dogs and hamburgers by the pool. Free!
There is a putt-putt for the kids.
A 9 hole golf course for the golfers.
If you don't have a camper, you can stay at one of the cabins on the property. This is a two bedroom cabin.
There are also one bedroom log cabins.
They come with chairs and a grill. They are really nice.
The building on the right is the Shanty. A small restaurant and bar. They have live music on the weekends.
One thing you will find when you go camping is how friendly everyone is. Our neighbor from home often goes camping with us, but not this weekend. However, we have a great friend that is usually here with us and they have 2 dachshunds and ours like to play with theirs. Everyone gets to socialize.
A couple times a year we do something called the crawl. There are about 9 of us and we go to each camper and you provide an appetizer and a drink (some type of liquor drink). That can be dangerous especially if you are not a drinker, so I usually get one and nurse it all night.
You can go through each others campers and eat and then we move to the next. It takes hours and it is so much fun.
I am set up for the 4th. I have my table set with the 4th of July centerpiece I made. You can see how I did it here.
Marina likes to sit in our big brown chairs. We just got these, but they are awesome and so comfy. They have an ottoman with them. Doesn't get better than that.
Since it is hot, the dogs like to come in the camper and cool off on the bed. They think they own it.
Well, that's all for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend. God Bless America!
