You're The Star - Home Feature Week

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was good, since my back was finally feeling better. Although, I did push it on Friday and Saturday since we were having a surprise birthday party for my FIL. He was 93. I did all of the cooking, so by Friday evening, my back was tired. I did most of the cooking on Friday, so I didn't have much to do on Saturday and I rested my back.

Black and White Checked Bunnies

These bunnies all started because I wanted to make some stuffed ones. I had a pattern for large ones, but wanted some smaller ones. 

So while at the Dollar Tree, I came across a package of wooden bunnies. They were the right size, about 4 1/2 inches high. My sister was looking for a pattern too, so I sent her 4 of the wooden bunnies and that left me with 4. 

I used them to make a pattern but wondered what to do with these.  So I painted one side with some black paint. 

Once these were dried, I laid the bunny down and cut out the fabric. I used some Modge Podge to attach the black and white fabric to the other side. I first spread on some Modge Podge and then laid the fabric down and then added some more Modge Podge on top. 

Once this was dry, I used some twine and hot glue to attach it to the outer edge. 

Here are my finished bunnies. I gathered them around.

Happy Thursday dear friends. I hope your week has been good so far. I hurt my back last Friday as I attempted to get up off the ground (I was weeding a flower bed) and felt it go. It is better, but taking its time healing. I can walk, but sitting and then getting up still hurts. I have not been able to go to my Zumba classes and that has me bummed but I am sure it will be ready by next Monday. 

With Easter approaching, I picked some cool posts that might be of interest for your Easter. I hope you have a great rest of your week and an awesome weekend.

Happy Monday! So delighted you stopped by. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was not so good, since I hurt my back on Friday afternoon nd spent the weekend, moving slowly and hoping it would heal quickly. 

I was weeding my garden and went to get up and just twisted the wrong way and felt it go. I guess no Zumba tonight for me.  I always hate missing the class. Well, that's life. Now hopefully, it will be better for Wednesday nights class.

Happy Monday dear friends. I hope your weekend was awesome. Ours was nice but very cold compared to Friday. Rain, dropping temps and high winds. I guess sometimes we have to have rain and cooler temps to appreciate the very nice days. 

We had dinner with family out on Friday. We don't usually go out on Friday, but my FIL wanted to get fish so we went. Probably not again - too crowded. Then On Sunday night, we had dinner at my BIL. It is always nice to spend time with family.

Happy Thursday dear friends. it has been a wonderful week so far. We actually had some rain yesterday and today. It has been some time since we had any rain so it was welcomed. 

It always amazes me how my plants do so much better with rain instead of me watering them. When i checked on them today, they looked great. Even my seeds popped up. What a little rain will do. 

With St. Patrick's Day coming soon, I thought I would pick all posts having to do with St. Paddy's Day. Enjoy!

Something Good from a Broken Ladder

After Christmas, we were at my daughter's helping to take down her Christmas lights. Hubby was up on the roof, getting lights and blowing off leaves. When he came down I was holding the wooden ladder for him. As he placed his foot on one of the rungs, it broke and the ladder smacked me in the face but I held on so he would fall. It was a 10 ft wooden ladder. 

He said, I will cut it up and throw it out. I had other ideas. I made him cut off the top, above the broken rung part, for me.  I knew I wanted to fix it up and put my flowers on it.

It didn't start out like this, it was rather tattered especially after the break.  it had been sitting outside for awhile at my daughters. 

I was originally going to leave it in its original state. However, I wanted to add boards so I could set my planters on it. I used boards from a pallet. It did not look good with a worn ladder and newish pallet boards.  

My friend gave me some stain when she moved and there was a Red Mahogany that was full. The others were not and I knew I would need lots of stain. So that is what I used. It is darker than I wanted but the stain was free and with all of the sun here, it will fade. 

Hubby had to add a board from front to back on the bottom so we could then lay boards down and have something to nail to. 

On the second shelf, we nailed them from front to back since we could use the existing step and back rung. 

For the top shelf, this is where it folder out so you could place your paint tray. Since this piece folded down, we nailed the sides of it to the ladder and added another board. 

I added a coat of Thompsons Water Seal to the entire ladder. 

Now it was ready for plants. 

I have lots of spider plants. You can't believe how many I have given away and even thrown away. 

I was able to get many of my plants off the ground. I am thrilled with it.

When my daughter saw it, she said "is that my ladder"? I said yes. she wanted it back lol!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was very nice and I was able to work outside. I planted some butternut squash and acorn squash seeds. Last year I started them a little late so this year I hope I started them early enough. 

The leaves are still falling, can you believe it? Just as hubby got them picked up on Saturday, it was raining leaves on Sunday. We have quite a few live oaks and they just keeping dropping leaves. I hope they stop soon.

Happy Thursday. It is hard for me to realize that it is still winter up north, especially when we are having 78 degree days. I started some seeds today and cleaned all of my flower beds and garden to get ready to plant.

I was telling my sister, who is in PA and she said, "sure, make me feel bad". Like I said, I forget it is early March and not everyone is enjoying nice weather.

Welcome to our party. Here we are on the first day of March.  A new month is beginning.  My Mom was excited this morning because she said, it is that much closer to spring weather.  After this cold winter, she is ready for it to be nice. 

We actually cooled down yesterday and today from the heat of last week. It has been a pleasant 74 degrees. I am actually sitting outside writing this post. I hope the rest of your week is awesome.
