Upcycled Shoe Shine Box
I have had this shoe shine box for over a year that I got at a garage sale (before covid) and just the other day, decided to update it for something usable. It's not like I shine my shoes these days. lol!
I needed something to store my seed packets in and this would be perfect.
It didn't start out this way. It wasn't in bad shape but the inside was rather gross.
First I removed the part where you placed your foot. I had to patch the holes. Then I sanded the piece.
The tricky part was getting the sticky stuff out from the inside. Once that was done I removed the hinges and the clasp from the front.
Next I painted the entire piece, inside and out with some white paint I had on hand. I had to give it two coats.
While the paint was drying, I tried to clean the hinges and clasp, but they still did not look good so I spray painted them with a brown hammered paint.
I found a seed image online and printed it out to place on the top. I used modge podge to secure it to the top.
Now it was time to put it back together. I put the hinges back on.
And then the clasp in the front.
My seed packets went in next but these are not all of them because I was planting with some of them. The box is big for the seeds I have, but I am excited to have them in one place.
It organized my seeds and finished a project that was long over do.
