Happiness Is Homemade

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!

Hello my bloggy friends. It is the last day in May. I remember talking to my Mom in April and she said I don't think I can go another month being isolated. Well, we did it. May is almost done and June is right around the corner. More and more places are open and it is easier to find groceries and TP, and other supplies. I find that people are wearing masks more than when it was at the height of the virus. Not sure why, but maybe because more masks are available.  I still don't venture out much but my daughter and I did go and get some flowers and soil. We had a nice few hours together.

How are things in your area? Are you getting out more? Can you find what you need?

I love a beautiful decorating book. It's such a treat to get a good one that you can flip through year after year. Carol from Bluesky At Home is sharing her favorite new decorating books. She gives you a little taste of the inside of each book so it's easier to decide which ones you want.

I'm excited because I don't have any of these. It can be hard to tell without seeing the inside if I should buy one, but I don't know which one should be first.

Staying in the decorating theme, Rachelle from My Hubbard Home shared a post about summer home décor. I haven't been doing any seasonal decorating since we've been working from home. It feels like the right time to start adding some summer. Rachelle shares a tour of her home and it's worth a visit just for that.

I think it must be a decorating and decor week. I was inspired by Ashley's modern bedroom, which is one of the "one room challenge" rooms. It's from Cherished Bliss and it's both minimalist and elegant.

Next up is an amazing furniture makeover from Cynthia. She transformed an old dresser into a colorful work of art. And she has a video that will show you how to do it yourself. Check out Create With Cynthia's floral dresser.  She not only applied flowers, but also made a vase using clay that she applied to the dresser.

The last feature is a card. When I first saw the card I thought it was a painting. Maybe it should be! It's so pretty. Check out Linda's tutorial for making this Card With A Gap. It's made using stamps and she give you step by step instructions.

  1. Basically, the only time I go out is for groceries or take out. I am praying that June will be a good month. My son graduates from 8th grade and it looks like we will at least get to do a drive through graduation. So sad but at least it's something. Thanks for hosting and stay well!

    1. Shelley,
Going out for dinner was a biggy for us because we usually stay home. I hope he has a nice drive by graduation. That has been so hard on students. My niece is so bummed because she graduates from high school and no prom or graduation or parties. I feel bad for all of them. Wish him good luck.

You have had a lot of high temps up there. I know from talking to my MOM that some days you re hotter than we were. We cooled down some today. Enjoy the cooler weather.

  3. Hey Beverly,
Both April and May just flew by! I don't shop much but TP, Paper towels and kleenex are hard to come by around here still. Our garden is starting to produce and we are so excited. All the red potatoes are canned and we have some for fresh eating.

    1. Mellisa,
OMG, that is a lot of potatoes planted. Wow. I am embarrassed to say how few plants I have. I wish I had room for that many. Maybe?? Great canning tips. I don't have enough to can yet.
      Have a wonderful day.
      Hugs,

  5. Marilyn,
I love that pandemic pasta. So appropriate for this time. You have to use what you got and of course with you at the helm, it had to be good.
