Fabric Decorated Candy Canes

Fabric Decorated Candy Canes

Do you ever find yourself wanting to make a simple but lovely Christmas decor but don't have much time? Who has time this time of year, right?

Well, that was me yesterday. I wanted something, but had no time. I was cleaning my pantry (hoping to find room for baking supplies) when I found some candy canes. They might have been from last year. Yikes! They were still wrapped.

What could I do with them to make them better and a pretty display as well.

Candy canes are nice, but they needed some pizzazz.  I had some red and white fabric so I decided to cover the candy canes.

You can cut the fabric stripes for a cleaner look or tear them for a shabby look. I cut the stripes about 1 inch wide and long enough for  wrapping.

I put some glue at the bottom to hold it (you can add some tape to hold it) and then started to wrap. Fold over and add some more glue at the top.

For this one, I cut the fabric and here is another one where I tore the fabric. I put some tape to hold the glue and then I will remove it.

I had this old oil can so added them to it with some additional decor.

If you don't have an old oil can you could tuck them into other decor or another type of container.

Although I love candy canes, these fabric covered ones are so cute and just right for the holidays. Since they might have been around for quite some time, they are best covered and not eaten. How will you decorate yours?

These are so cute! It looks like we were twins this week. I had the same idea on my mind. I love the fabric that you used.
