Well, that was me yesterday. I wanted something, but had no time. I was cleaning my pantry (hoping to find room for baking supplies) when I found some candy canes. They might have been from last year. Yikes! They were still wrapped.
What could I do with them to make them better and a pretty display as well.
Candy canes are nice, but they needed some pizzazz. I had some red and white fabric so I decided to cover the candy canes.
You can cut the fabric stripes for a cleaner look or tear them for a shabby look. I cut the stripes about 1 inch wide and long enough for wrapping.
I put some glue at the bottom to hold it (you can add some tape to hold it) and then started to wrap. Fold over and add some more glue at the top.
For this one, I cut the fabric and here is another one where I tore the fabric. I put some tape to hold the glue and then I will remove it.
I had this old oil can so added them to it with some additional decor.
If you don't have an old oil can you could tuck them into other decor or another type of container.
Although I love candy canes, these fabric covered ones are so cute and just right for the holidays.

That is super cute. I've always liked the fabric candy canes, too, but never thought of just covering a real candy cane. (Clearly I'm an idiot). It's so much cheaper that way, and since I don't live near many stores it's just plain convenient as well. (Or, it would be if I already had red/white striped fabric on hand. I think we have some brown/white striped, which I've seen as fabric candy canes too, but I personally prefer the red/white).

Kristin,
DeleteThanks for the sweet comment on my candy canes. They have so many colors of candy canes these days that I bet the brown and white just might be adorable. You could start a new trend.Go for it.
Have a great day and fabulous holidays!!
