My Little Squirrel

My desk is a great place to work, because it is beside two large windows that looks out on my side garden. I am still working on getting this garden populated with plants and yard art. The other day this squirrel came over to the fountain for water. He climbed up and drank not only from the tray on the fountain.

I had seen him do this before, but then got on his hind legs to drink the water coming out of the top of the fountain.  He kept me in his sight. (I had to take the picture through the window)

When I went to take another picture, he jumped down and I only got his tail and back legs.

He next climbed up the feeder to se what was there, but I hadn't put out any seed in the morning.

  1. We have had squirrels at the feeders all winter. One day there were 9 of the little beggers. I dont mind feeding them but they keep the birds out so I have to chase them after they have had their fill.

    1. Squirrels do tend to take over and keep the birds out. I usually chase them too but it was cute to see this one drinking from the top of the fountain. Nine is a lot to have at one time. Wow!

  2. What a cute little guy - we have black squirrels now. There were some gray ones but the black ones moved in and apparently evicted the others.

    1. Hi JoAnn,
I only was black squirrels one time and now I can't remember where. I use to have red ones up north but only see the grey ones here in Florida.

  3. Stopping by from UBP. Love your little squirrel great post. In our yard the squirrels' favorite activity is to jump from our tree to the roof, over the roof, and jump in the neighbor's tree. This takes them just over my poor dogs head that watches like a tennis match and drives her crazy.

    1. Hi Karen,
It is funny how the squirrels seem to taunt the dogs, mine too. I have a doxie and she is 13 years old but fast. I didn't know just how fast until she caught a squirrel, actually two of them. Needless to say, she killed them. I tried to get her away from them, but it was too late. Now the squirrels seem to be fearful of her.

    1. Yes, I love this little area and I am working to get it really nice. The first thing I put in was the fountain since I could see and hear it from my chair while blogging. Fountains are so soothing, hope you get one.

Thanks for stopping by and being a follower. I like to watch the squirrels but they can be pests. They frighten the birds away and destroy things. Oh, well, I guess they need to eat too.

  8. Your little bushy tailed friend is cute but I know how annoying they can be too. We have squirrels and some other cute tiny squirrel like things that run up and down the trees in our backyard. I like your fountain but maybe not as much as your furry friend. LOL. He seems to really like it!!

    1. Hi Shannon,
I think everyone has squirrels. They seem to be problems in everyone's yard. They can be pest but this little guy wanted water and didn't care if I was sitting there. The birds come to this fountain and drink and take baths. Go figure. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by.

    1. I have had similar issues with a squirrel knocking things over in Penna. They basically destroyed the bird bath. This one is sturdy. So far not too destructive.

    1. Hi Danni,
I know what you mean about it signing. When we went to buy a fountain, I checked out dozens to find one that "sang". I love to listen to it while I am blogging and the birds and squirrels seem to like it as well.

  18. Seeing your squirrel drinking from your fountain reminded me of a funny incident that happened with a squirrel in our yard. We had a jar lid with peanuts on our fence for the squirrels but the birds got most of the peanuts. The lid was still on top of the fence and after it rained a squirrel came by, lifted the lid with its paws, and standing on its hind legs drank the water out of the lid. It was hysterical. Hubs saw it too and he couldn't believe it. I wished I had my camera but it happened so fast. Then it didn't know what to do with the lid so he threw it over into the neighbors yard. It was one of the cutest things I'd ever seen. Thanks for sharing your cute squirrel pics. You never know what they'll do!

What a site that must have been. I can't believe it. They are certainly are interesting critters - but clever and smart! Although the squirrels do drive my cat and dog crazy, they are fun to watch.

    1. Hi Kathleen,
I am not sure that 85 degrees is spring time. We seemed to have had a short spring this year here in southern Florida.
This is a little too hot for this time of year but I guess it beats the cold.
Your winter has been long and I am sure though it is beautiful in the mountains.
      Have a wonderful week,
