Decorated Steps with Vintage Watering Cans |
Isn't it funny how you can get excited about steps and a banister? Who knew!
We live in a ranch, so there are no steps or banisters to decorate. However, we do have three steps and a banister leading down from our deck. I usually have planters with flowers blooming on the steps, but at Christmas it gives me the opportunity to decorate this area.
Since there is no chance of snow here in southern Florida, I sprayed the greenery and poinsettias with snow. We do get a lot of rain, so I don't know how long the fake snow will last.
I used vintage watering cans to plant flowers and wanted to use them in my display, but didn't want to put in greenery or flowers. I found some birds at A. C. Moore and thought they might work.

This bird was really nice, but there was only one like it. Nevertheless, I did find another one - a red one. Although I liked it, it's feathers were quite "fluffy." However, he is very festive.

At the top of the stairs, sitting on the deck is a replica of a tool carrier. This one was home made, but you can use a vintage one if you have it.

Snowman Decor in Toolbox |

The snowmen are made using Styrofoam balls covered in some plaster paris and then decorated. Other decorations include pine cones, tiny Styrofoam balls, greenery and mini lights.

The other snowman was made the same way only smaller.

I added "Let It Snow" across the outside and glued on a red wooden heart.

One of the great things about this decoration is that I can move it anywhere I want to. Just pick it up by the handle and off you go!

Love your stair decor, Bev. The old toolbox is great for displaying greens and snowmen.
ReplyDeleteBeth,
DeleteThanks for the lovely comment. It is so different decorating for warm weather versus cold, but fun.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
