We have enjoyed this holiday relaxing although tomorrow will be crazy and I prepare for Saturday company and then Christmas dinner.

Welcome to the party!  Well, Christmas is approaching quickly. I am ready but we just added another dinner party 2 days before Christmas. I spent the day thinking about what to make; making grocery lists and shopping for some of the items. I am doing mainly appetizers and some cold cuts for this one.  14 people on Sat and sit down dinner for 12 on Christmas. I am going to be busy, but it is fun and I enjoy having people over.

Welcome to the party!  Christmas is coming fast. I had a nice week with my decorating done and hubby was out of town. I enjoyed the decorations and started to plan my Christmas menu. I also bought all of the ingredients I need to make cookies and candy. That I will start Sunday. it is supposed to rain, so it sounds like a good day to bake.

Picket Fence and A Christmas Centerpiece

As I was thinking of what to use for my dining room Christmas centerpiece, I wondered around the house. I bought this picket fence in PA a few months ago. I wondered how could I use it. I should have taken a picture of just the picket fence, but didn't. 

It was so sunny today as I tried to get pictures. (I am not complaining about the sun - love it)

It's not everyday you attempt to put a picket fence on your dining room table. I have been known to use some strange pieces for trays. Last year I made a sled (You can see that here) For my autumn tray I used a pelt stretcher, so a picket fence should not be a surprise. 

There are three pieces to the fence, each one is about 16 inches wide and each picket is 20 inches long. So I laid one section down and the others became the back.  I folded the other two pieces to make an upside down "v" so it would stand up.

Here is the back panel. I love all of the colors and the "chippiness" (is that a word) of the pickets.

I placed a tree on the front panel and then found a large piece of white felt to use as the shirt around it. 

On the one side,  I added a rustic bell, a snowman and some trees.

On the other side, I added two glass tree ornaments. I didn't want to use them as ornaments, but they look cute as trees here. 

I added fairy lights to the tree. Although with the sun shining in that window, it makes them blurry.

I love how it turned out, however, there is not much room on my table when we have Christmas dinner. I will have to move it to the kitchen table and put one of my other pieces on that table so we can place the food on it.

Happy Thursday dear friends.  Here we are in December. It seems to have arrived too soon. Christmas will be here before we know it. I am mostly ready - house is decorated and most of my packages have been shipped. 

I still have some presents to buy for hubby and some baking to do. I will start baking this weekend. I am making some chocolate covered Oreos for my nephew. He loves them. There is a candy store in PA where my Mom lives that make these but they are expensive so I thought why not make my own.

Happy Monday and welcome to the party. I am so delighted you stopped by. I finally finished all of the Christmas decorating done. Now I can make cookies. I actually got packages ready since hubby is heading to West Virginia to see his grand kids. That saved me from shipping them. I am trying to get the rest of my packages ready to mail early. I have almost all of my shopping done that needs to be sent. Waiting on one package. I will be happy to get them all shipped.

Welcome to You Are the Star Home Week

Happy Monday. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We continued the Thanksgiving weekend with lunch with my daughter and a friend from out of town. It was lightup afternoon in our town so it was packed. All the streets were closed so that Santa and Misses Claus could come riding into town. 

We left before that to get away from all of the crowds. Traffic was terrible. I live 5 minutes from the town and it took 30 minutes to get home.

Happy Monday and well to Thanksgiving week. I finally got all of my ingredients together and my menu is set. of course ow I need to do some cleaning and think about what is going on my table. I always see these fabulous tablescapes and I did try one a few years ago, but we had to move most things so we could get the food on. Now I do a simple centerpiece that doesn't take up too much room.
