Childhood Possessions

Childhood possessions - what lovely memories they generate. I don't have many items that were mine as a child but I cherish the ones that I do have. One item is this doll box, although I no longer have the dolls or any clothing. It has a tray that lifts out.

I placed some items in the top of the box that I have collected over the years - small mirror, gloves that were mine, shoe pin cushion, little iron pitcher, pearls, and a photo of me at 6 months. Notice the lack of hair. Didn't have much until I was 2 and then it came in curly and is still that way.

The little heart pillow has seen better days, but I love it. This was not one of my shoes, but it found it and it needed to be rescued since it was all by itself.

I remember when we wore gloves to church, especially on Easter. I saved two pairs that I wore when I was around eight or nine.

I added some vintage thread spindles and a milk jar with some of my marbles when I was little.

This is the top of the dresser with some additional items. The dresser is another one of my childhood possessions. My parents bought this set for me when I was six. The only thing I did many years ago was to strip it and re-stain the piece in its original color.

I have this four drawer piece and another five drawer piece. They are in great shape and I am so glad to have them. One day, I will pass them down to my daughter.

Although I love to paint furniture, I don't think I will be painting it anytime soon.
It is nice to look at  these items and remember. Do you have any special pieces from your childhood?
